Need to rebuild a primary drive
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I upgraded my Series 1 Tivo about 4 years ago with a second 60G drive.
It worked fine until about 3 moths ago. The second drive's head bangs back and forth and eventually stops spinning. This prevents the whole unit from coming up. I do not think I will be able to repair the second drive, nor do I want to spend thousands for a data retrieval company to fix it.
I've faced reality that my 100 hours of saved programming is lost :(.
Now I want to just get it running again.
Is there a program to build just a single drive and start over?
I know I can purchase them from some of the vendors, but is there a way
I can do it myself if I buy the drive.
Thanks.
Steve.

Read Hinsdale's post at the top of the Upgrade Centre. What you need is a backup file for your model of TiVo. You might be able to find one online if you're lucky.
If you can't find one, you can get the 'InstantCake' recovery CD from PTVupgrade.
