Two suggestions for recording options:

1) When recording Season Passes, you need more than the two options of "Save until space needed" and "Save until I delete." In fact, if you had "Save for 2 days, 3 days, etc." it would help with space management.

2) You also need an option to "Save until space needed" but don't keep recording the show if the maximum saved has already hit the limit. Right now, the only way to keep a show from recording over and over is to set the option to Save Until Delete. As a result, the recording que gets filled up unnecessarily in many cases. If it's daily news, it's helpful to have TIVO automatically record over previous shows, but if it's Seinfeld reruns, I don't care which one I have -- on the other hand, I'd rather not have "Save until Delete" because it reduces projected space.

I'm pretty sure 2) is referring to when the keep at most is set.

Currently, if you set keep at most 2, Save Until Space Needed, the TiVo will record every episode that airs, but will continuously delete the older ones to stay at two in the Now Playing List. (consider an extreme case, of a 24 hour marathon of 30 minute shows. During that 24 hours the TiVo would record 48 episodes; but delete 46 of them)

Or if you set keep at most 2, Save Until I Delete, the TiVo will stop recording after 2, but nothing can delete them even if the TiVo is totally out of space.

I think caligrl is asking for a 3rd option. Where the TiVo would stop recording after 2, but those 2 shows could be deleted automatically if the TiVo needed the space. This feature has certainly been requested here before. It allows a niche between suggestions, and recordings you really want to keep, while keeping the TiVo's tuner to remain mostly free so that it can record suggestions and not "waste" time endlessly refreshing these shows.
