Say I've got a 39-hour TiVo image that's been written to a 160GB drive, then expanded with MFSADD...

...is there a way to shrink that image back down so it will fit on a smaller drive, if that becomes necessary at some point in the future?

Yes, if you make a compressed backup off that drive, you'll notice it's a 39 Hour backup, not a 180-ish Hour.

Try making a backup of the expanded drive; it will report the size of the backup when it's done. Usually you can "divorce" the extra partitions and the backup of teh 160 will report 39hrs.
