tivo playing up

Just noticed today 2 things to my 120gig tivo

1) instead of going back to tivo central, i'll just get a black bit on top half of screen, a press of tivo button removes this

2) if i go to watch live tv, it shows either a blank screen or the first second of the program and the timer bar. But if i check now playing, it is recording fine.

Any ideas? will a reboot sort it or is their some issue?

It never hurts to try a restart. If a 'soft' restart it from the menu doesn't solve it, try a 'hard' restart by removing the power for 30 seconds.

It may be suffereing from lack of input signal. It will always show it as recording during the scheduled period, but will only record if the signal is strong enough.

hmmmmmmmm, well its now started turning itself off. I look at it and there is no yellow or red light, pressing standby makes it come back on. Did it yesterday and today. Most odd.
