Cache card link light not on, daily call fails
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Installed the tivo cache card and the power light comes on the cache card, but the link light on the cache card and the link lights on the network switch for that port doesn't. Removed and reinstalled it several times, nothing changes. The network cord works fine when plugged into my laptop, so its not the cord.
Tried the daily call several times and it doesn't work. Assuming if the lights don't work, daily call won't either.
Help!

Hi,
What does the kernel log say? (look for turbonet2)

I am interested in placing the daily call only at this point. I thought for that step, you had to install the card, and set the prefix. Do I need to add the software modifications. The link light on the cache card still won't come on after countless tries. I also don't see the link light for that port on a standalone 5 port switch. Any tips.
The power light is on, so contact is being made, it is a snug fit, can't think of anything else I could do.
It is a standalone series 1 Philips 312 tivo with 2 modified hard drives.
Thanks once again.

did you install the drivers on your tivos drive?

Ah, yes,
You need to install the drivers (and set ,#401) for the daily call to work.

Installing the cachecard, after logging into linux via nic install cd and typing in instructions, the cachecard software is accessed from the floppy drive - the first 2 steps are successful -
1) the tivo drive
2) find all the active partitions
then at the 3rd step -
3) When looking for the software version #, it cancels install and says "can't access mfs"
I thought the hard drive was corrupted, put it back in the tivo and it is working fine. Can't figure out how to fix this.

TIVO Version is 3.0
Thanks for your help

Thanks jafa for the quick responses, really appreciate that.
Got the cachecard running, its great.
Could I recommend a step in your instructions - cover the variables that come up during installation. I ran into 2 - the mfs error and couldn't mount partitions. Reading the bulletin boards, it seems everyone has one hiccup or another during installation. Once again, appreciate the help.
Thanks.
