Comcast Atlanta Digital Cable Box Info
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Can anyone here who lives in the Atlanta area, and who has Comcast cable tell me which brand and model of digital cable boxes are used for both regular digital cable and HD digital cable? I'm thinking of going with Comcast and would rather own my own boxes than pay the rental fees.
Thanks!

To be frank, you oprions are:
1: Wait for cablecard boxes to come out,
2: Look for retailers in your area that sell Comcast boxes, and buy them there.
3: Ask what them what boxes you can buy , and where you can buy them.
Otherwise you are a slave to cable box rental, unless you can convince your provider to authorise an outside box (before you go buy one).

I have one of each. The HD box is a Motorola DCT-5100, and the digital box is a Motorola DCT-2000.
Comcast charges nothing extra for the digital box...it is part of the digital package.
The HD box is an extra $5.00 a month, plus the cost of the HD "service" is another $4.80 per month.
I don't think you can buy your own box with either service.
