Saw in TV Guide that The Time Tunnel was starts this Friday on Encore's ACTION channel. Set your TIVOs for a great chance to see this classic TV Series.

I saw that when it was first aired (around 1966) -- and it was super-cheesy even then.

Cool! Thanks for the heads up. I'm setting up a SP now. Can't believe they're only showing one episode a week. I love the super-cheesy stuff. I'm still a big fan of Sliders and its the ultimate in cheesy sci-fi.

Which reminds me, Time Tunnel was the Sliders of the Sixties! It has a similar storyline although I suppose you could argue its more like Quantum Leap. Actually I think it was sort of a combination of the two. Tony and Doug were traveling through time like Quantum Leap, but they continued to physically inhabit their own bodies like Sliders. It was a member of the Irwin Allen sci-fi stable which contained other cheesy fare like Lost in Space, Voyage to the Bottom of The Sea, and Land of the Giants, and my cheesy-favorite: Batman (with Time Tunnel regular Lee Meriwether as Catwoman!)

It lasted only one season. But seasons then contained a lot more episodes than today's shows, so we have 30 episodes of The Time Tunnel to watch. Of course if it had been on the Sci-Fi Channel today, it probably would have lasted 4 or 5 seasons, since, as we all know, Sci-Fi only cancels good shows!

I think I read somewhere that they were making a movie out of this. Not sure if it was made-for-tv or theatrical.

It was apparently a forgettable TV movie two years ago: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0313707/

I loved this silly show when it was on during the 66-67 TV season. It was on the Sci-Fi channel or maybe it was some other channel a few years ago and I tried to watch it. Like many TV shows from that era, it is better just remembered and not watched today. The Invaders and The Man From Uncle are two shows from that era that I would like to see today but I am afraid both would be a disappointment as well.

I want "Time Team."

I'm glad there's only 1 a week. There weren't that many of these made and it's a lot easier to deal with one a week than one a day.

I always wondered why they never came out of the tunnel over the middle of the Pacific Ocean, or inside a mountain.

Agreed :o

I set up a SP this evening and noticed something very odd. In a prior incarnation, I had given TT 3 thumbs up, yet it was not showing as a potential TiVo suggestion!?

I liked it when they went back in time instead of in the future. Irwin Allen's aliens were so bad it was laughable even then. The Quantum Leap reference was pretty close since they did have to "fix" or help people in the past.

As a Kid I enjoyed TT. Was it not followed with a equally cheesy show on the same nite. The Invaders ?

When killed the aliens would turn into a bunt outline :p
