Vibration

Hello.
I wanted to post this to check on your experiences. I have never had a problem with the noise of the fan, but checking on the unit I noticed that it vibrates. Not a lot but enough to cause vibrations in my synergy audio rack. After trying various DIY 'feet' with various materials from rubber cones to blue tack I finally was able to isolate the unit by cutting up a sponge and placing a piece between the rubber feet and a cone footing. This has completely eliminated the the vibration of the cabinet but I am wondering if:
1) This is caused by the fan which is slightly unbalanced and I am essentially alone in this problem and should get a new one.
2) This is a symptom of the spinning hard drive and is a) a problem which will lead to the failure of the hard drive or b) is normal.
2) There is a better way to isolate the TIVO so as to not only eliminate the vibrations in the rest of the rack but also reduce or better yet eliminate the vibrations in the TIVO itself.
3) This is in any way related to the 'soft' picture quality I and others notice with the DVI output. I know it's a stretch (I am always trying to find an excuse for this issue).
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Interesting...mine has a barely perceptible vibration, whereas my two SD DirecTiVos do not.
You can test the fan balance by sticking a screwdriver or something in the fan grating and momentarily stopping the fan. (I know someone's going to have something to say about this.) I did this, and it did not appear to affect the vibration.
I would attribute it to the hard drive, and say it's nothing to worry about. Of course, even if it was a problem, there's not much you could do about it until the drive actually fails.
