BB/Magnolia HT are getting HDTivo

Got a call this morning from Magnolia HT in BB Costa Mesa to pick up my HDTivo. When I got there, it seems like they just received a good shipment of them. After talking further with one of the managers, they apparently been getting small quantity shipment on a regular basis. In my case, I put in my name about two weeks ago and now I am a proud owner of a HDTivo. For those who lives around a BB with a Magnolia HT (only in Costa Mesa & San Francisco in California), you might want to check to see if they are still taking names. Good luck.

And just as an FYI, I have one on order with the Magnolia Hi-Fi store in Sacramento -- I went in there over the weekend just to see if they had any news, and after checking the computer, they said it appeared as though they are expecting "a good number" of them in their warehouse on the 21st (of June), and that more than likely I would get one a few days later from that batch.

How much of this can be believed? Who knows, but it seems to jibe with some of the stories we're starting to hear.

You could potentially do even better if you go to a 'true' Magnolia Audio Video store. I ordered mine about April 27 and got it May 6.

Yeah but you won't get to use the BB 10% coupon and get an 18 months same as cash payment plan. :D

I ordered my HD Tivo unit from Magnolia in Emeryville today, I should have it no later than early July.

The question I have is they sold me a 4 year extended warranty for $30, it seemed too cheap to me but the manager confirmed that was the price.

Has anyone else been offered this deal?

Also, we're moving into a new house in August, can someone recommend the optimal setup for a dish and two receivers (1 HD & 1 SD)?

Thanks!

V.

They sold me a 4 year warranty for my HDVR2 for $80 and i thought that was cheap. $30 would be a bargain as long as you have it in writing and it doesn't have any silly clauses. I probably voided mine by upgrading the unit anyway, so its probably not worth it for me even at that price.

Wow, that's a great deal. They offer they gave me was $100 for 4 years. So I decided to skip it since Directv now has the $8/month insurance which covers everything related to my directv setup.

BTW, does anyone have the directv $8/month insurance? Any +/- feedback so far?

Thanks for the heads-up, CarlC!!! After five phone calls, I finally got someone at the Costa Mesa store to hold one until my wife could get in there to get it.

Hi-Def soon come, mon!!! :D :D :D :D

$30 is a good deal, as long as you have it in writing. I got it for $100. I also got $100 off because they had $100 off a $1k purchase.

Where does one get the 10% coupon? That would seal the deal for me (I might have to pay for installation since I do not have DirecTV yet; the $100 might just cover it)

Vortex -- all I have is the standard Phase 3 dish w/4 coax down and it runs both my ancient Hughes GXCEBOTd and the HR10-250 just fine. I added the Silver Sensor indoor antenna and, now, receive all the "local" HD channels from 50 miles away.

Caveat on the last remark, though -- I'm line-of-sight to the antenna farm for those "local" channels and they're all UHF. The Silver Sensor seems to be the best solution for that context.

I thought I'd go completely crazy being able to record 6 channels at once; but, the quality of everything on the HR10-250 is so much better than the old Hughes that all I record on the oldie is season tickets to daily shows like "The Screensavers" and a few of the SD 4:3 telecasts where I still prefer to use "Zoom 1" on my Sammy. The quality jump is enough, though, that I'm using the HR10-250 to record the Euro 2004 Tournament [for example] and watching in 4:3.
