How do I fix my warped clock?

Hi All,

My TiVo has been unable to make a daily call for a while due to a dead modem. I now have a PPP-over-serial connection, but looks like I have a warped clock, and nothing gets recorded, even though schedule information gets displayed when watching live TV.

I have these messages in the log:

Jun 10 00:27:10 (none) DbGc[123]: DbGc::HandleTriggerWhileIdle -- clock is warped -- re-marking in 300 seconds

The box is upgraded, and old - Series 1, so I have no warranty. What are my options at this point? Can I reset the clock somehow from the bash prompt? Anything else I can do?

Thanks.

You can reset your clock using settime - but I'm afraid that may not help as the 'warped' flag seems to get reset only when you make a successful call.

Have you tried forcing a test call?

Isn't this caused by a firewall that doesn't allow NTP connections (port 123)?

The strange thing is, my calls go through! The status changes to succeeded, and the data seems to get processed, but the TiVo just won't record anything - just displays the schedule...

The time seems to be correct, too, although in GMT...

Help!

Maybe rerun guided setup and tell it which timezone you are in? It's possible that somehow it lost that info.

Boy, do I feel stupid now.... My firewall was blocking the NTP port, it's all fine now... The weird thing is, I did sniff the traffic while a daily call was in progress, and saw ntp requests - but didn't notice that no responses came.

Thanks!
