I would love to play not only mp3's and jpg files from my PC, but what about quicktime, divx, and vcd files! The Tivo should be able to handle the viewing of these file types with some decompression software such as a quicktime viewer or movie player software.
Also, the ability to download movies and TV shows like InDemand would make Tivo even better then it is now. With Comcast DVR's coming out everywhere, Tivo better keep up with the rest of the market.
Does TivoToGo handle any of these options?
It looks like it just moves your recorded content from your Tivo to your PC.
If this has been discussed to death, I appologise.

The details of TiVoToGo have not yet been released, but in a recent survey they had an entire section asking about downloading video content to the TiVo. So they're at least considering it.
As for the InDemand thing... TiVo announced a few days ago that they are working on something akin to that. TiVos CEO is also on the board of Netflix, so it's very possible that Netflix's recently announced internet delivery service could be tied to TiVo units in some way.

Your computer would probably have to do the heavy lifting of converting them to mpeg files before the TiVo could play them. The TiVo has a very underpowered CPU to be doing video playback. The reason that it can handle its own mpeg video is that it has a hardware mpeg encoder (Standalone units only) and mpeg decoder, which actually handle the video. Any other video format couldn't be handled by these chips and would fall back on a software implementation running on the TiVo's cpu. [IIRC the Series 1 TiVos have a 66 Mhz PowerPC processor, and the Series 2s have a 200 Mhz MIPS processor]
OTOH if your computer, which likely has a 1 Ghz + processor converts your quicktime, or divx files to mpeg before sending them the TiVo could play them back fine.
