The 2 things I REALLY want to see!

1) Drivers for usb 2.0 support (I have an etherfast network capable of 100mbs speeds. Currently usb 1.1 is maxed out at 12mbs)

and

2) 5.X software update for my 40 hr SA S2 Tivo. That way I can easily swap the original HD with a monster 200 or 250 gig drive and be able to take avantage of more than just 137 gigs.

From what I read, it sounds like TiVo is capable of doing both of these things currently. They just need to flip the switch.

I thought this was a hardware issue as well.

I concur, although my brother keeps pointing out that in most cases it's still more economical to buy two smaller drives than one larger drive of about the same size.

The Stand Alone 80hr and 40hr S2's have the hardware that is usb 2.0 capable.

If you go with 2 smaller drives, you also have to purchase a braket and additional wires etc. I like the idea of just taking one drive out and putting in a much larger drive. My 228 hr SA S2 is 2 drives, a 128 gig and also the original 80 hr drive that came with the tivo. I saw a sale today for a WD 200 gig drive for $90! That is only $20 more than I paid for my WD 128 gig drive 3 months ago. Within 3 months you will be able to grab 250 gig drives for under $100. Maybe when/if TiVo upgrades all of us to software 5.X I'll take out the original 80 hr drive and swap it with a 250. That would give me 128 and 250! thats about 400 hrs :D

But basically I just want to upgrade my 40 hr unit with just one drive (don't want to purchase a braket etc) that can handle more than 137 gigs.
