Gambling in a hotel room

Does anyone know if it's legal to hold a game of Hold 'em in a hotel room?
Me and a few mates want to hire a hotel room for the night and have a Texas Hold'em tournament, but we're not sure if it's actually legal.

Given some of the activities that seem to go on in hotel rooms, apparently unchecked, I can't see how you would get caught even if it wasn't legal.
The rules on gambling in any public place are a bit vague anyway. IIRC, then card games for money are allowed in pubs as long as they are for "nominal stakes." As far as I know, the definition of "nominal stakes" is open to some interpretation!
If you are in London, then you should check out the Gutshot website and the Tooting Poker Front. An excellent bunch of people to play Hold 'Em with at remarkably welcoming home games and I think they have a few venues where you can probably hire a table etc....
I went a few times but now live too far away :-(
