Does anyone know for sure whether TiVo/Tribune are going to be able to be quick enough to filter through the correct schedule for each evening from Thursday on?
I'm not watching the footie myself but it's my understanding that Thursday's schedule has now been determined by yesterday's result. That's perilously close to the 48 hours minimum round time it takes to update a schedule.
My guess is that the time isn't quite long enough for Tribune to get the correct schedule set up and they'll stick with the one they originally picked.

Tribune knows that BBC had first choice and had confirmed the England game on Monday night - so there should have been enough time for them to process it in time.
If Friday's broadcaster is known by the end of Wednesday then all should be OK for France-Greece - the broadcasters may wait for all results to be known before deciding on Friday. In that case then the schedules will not be updated in time.
I think that most listings carry the Football version - even though only one broadcaster will show the football.

Tivo is correctly showing BBC covering Thursday's game - that's all we need to know :)

Two years ago TiVo ran a publicity campaign in the UK, based on how TivO could keep up with England's world cup games on TV.
As those of us on here at the time will remember, the late updates didn't really work 100%, so I guess it's a case of watching out for latest updates on TV etc. http://www.bbc.co.uk/whatson/ is usually up to date.
Given the interest in Eng-ger-land, Beckham and Rooney etc at the moment, it's going to hard to miss when the matches are going to be on.

At the moment Digiguide, ITV.com and bbc.co.uk/whatson are still not correct, so I wouldn't count on TiVo having the correct data.
The only change that I can see is that at the moment itv.com is reporting that Emmerdale will be shown from 1900 - 2230 on Thursday night. That'll draw viewers from the football :)

Both TiVo and Digigude have the correct schedules for Thursday night.
Friday schedules were only confirmed today!

After a bit of digging around, here is what was their UK press release, which got a bit of publicity in the papers:
4/17/2002
'ARE THEY MENTAL? UK FOOTIE FANS GO ORIENTAL
LONDON (April 17, 2002) - One in five dedicated football fans are prepared to switch to a Japanese time zone this summer, if it means they are able to watch their team's matches live on TV, according to a survey commissioned by TiVo, the creator of and leader in television services for digital video recorders (DVRs).
The survey reveals that a third of the nation's men plan to watch every World Cup match their team plays, no matter what. But with many matches being shown at unsociable hours, committed football fanatics may resort to turning Japanese for the summer, putting their alarm clocks forward eight hours, eating breakfast for dinner and working as if they were in the World Cup time zone.
(snip...)
Matthew George, Product Marketing Manager for TiVo, explains "It's evident from the research that to get the best out of the World Cup footie fans are prepared to go to the extreme of adopting a Japanese lifestyle - but if you aren't prepared to do this and want to retain some control over your life, TiVo provides the ideal solution!"
George continues, "TiVo is the perfect companion! Through the touch of a button TiVo lets you replay the action in slow-motion as it happens, pause the game if your mum calls mid penalty, store all of England's matches digitally and even automatically record all your other favourite programmes for when you are all footied out".

My TiVo updated the schedule for tonight and now states that the match is Portugal vs. England - all credit to Tribune for getting it updated!
It looks like the only thing to trip up TiVo now are other channels (Sky One with 24 tonight for example) jostling programmes out of the way of the football.

My TiVo is saying that BBC1 is showing football tonight while Digiguide says not. Which is correct? And what about tomorrow? Anybody know?
Thanks,
Daz

According to my just-updated DG, it is ITV1 who are showing a match tonight.

Thanks. I forced another daily call first thing this morning (had already done so at 12:30am to no avail) and TiVo now has the correct listings. I will therefore be forcing a daily call at 8am until the tournament is over.
Well done to Tribune for updating the listings but boo to TiVo for dialling in too early!

For next week, BBC1 is showing Wednesday's semi-final, Portugal vs Netherlands, and ITV1 is showing Thursday's, Greece vs Czech Repiublic.
