I've just upgraded my uk Tivo with a 160gb hard drive & cache card. I installed the drive first & installed the patched kernel. It worked fine so I then installed the cachecard & drivers. I booted from the PTV cd & used the latest cachecard drivers (18 May 2004) & used the default network settings. I have not installed any memory in the cachecard yet.

When my Tivo starts I get a saying Cardcard Driver Version 1.0 & below it Error. What kind of error could this be? Is the red error screen caused by no memory being installed or is it more serious?

I've changed my network settings in Windows XP to set the gateway to the same as the gateway of the cachecard. But I cannot ping the tivo. I'm using a crossover cable from my pc to the tivo. It should be working fine as I unplugged it from my Kiss network DVD player & I know it works. There are two lit green leds on the cachecard.

I had a look at my logs.

TV Log - has network settings & says "using ethernet= true"

Kernel Log - says I'm using turbonet2 drivers. Is this right? It also says that the "IP struct was not filled in!" & "route.tivo forgot to specify route netmask". I don't know if this means anything.

Can anyone help please?

Hi,

The part of the log you posted on silicondust shows that the ethernet driver detected the cachecard and loaded correctly.

The two networking related warnings are normal.

Is the link light on at both ends? (on the cachecard the link light is the middle light).

Double check /etc/rc.d/rc.net and make sure the ip address is correct for your netowrk.

Once networking is working, it will be easier to get to the logs to see why the cache isn't working.
