I've just got a new Toshiba TV and connected it via a fuly populated Scart to my trusty Tivo and now find that whenever the Tivo is on in Standby or Play mode it 'forces' itself on to the TV and the TV remote is totally non-functional until I turn the Tivo off. I suspect it's something like a permanently ON signal coming out of the Tivo where the TV is expecting perhaps a pulse when the Tivo goes in to Play to auto-switch over to it.

Anyone else experienced this or something similar and found a solution?

The FAQ will explain all - you need to call TiVo CS and ask for the 2.5.5a software upgrade.

Thanks for the speedy response - I've done just that. Also, apologies for not fully checking the FAQ's first!
