Newbie questions ..
Ok, we all know the USB port may be used for several things ... but how ?
I have sucsessfully upgraded the drives with 2 160gig seagates.
My questions are:
1- how do I activate the usb port for use with an ethernet adapter and which brand works, please specify a model for wired and wireless and how it is activated with what utilities/files etc, please be specific as this is all new to me.
2- how do I access the serial port and does anyone have a diagram of the cable, how do I access the tivo using it ? and why do I need it ?
Thanks guys .................. RecordTheJoy ....................

There are MANY threads on this subject already - did you look for any of them first?

hey
The best thread for network adapters is tivo itself.
They sell network adapters
Look at the models they recommend, then go elsewhere to get them cheaper.
Also, a little search/read of the forum might help

You forgot to mention what model you have. Is it SA or Dtivo?

The activation of the USB ports can't be found on this fourm. You have to go to the other forum for that.
I use a wired connection for my usb ports with a NETGEAR FA-120 adapter.
I used SLEEPERS ISO to activate the usb ports , setup tivoweb, etc.
do a yahoo search on "SLEEPER ISO - Series 2"
I have several dtv combo boxes series 2 boxes and I have not had any problems using the above.
