Spoiled daughter

So, I've had my TiVo for over a year now and my two-year-old daughter is thoroughly spoiled. (Ok, so am I...) When she wants to watch Roly Poly Ollie, she wants to watch it *now* and when we're at gramma's, she can't grasp the concept of "it's not on yet!" *sigh* I KNEW there would be a downside to this thing somewhere... http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

On a side note, my TiVo has almost lapped itself. The oldest recording on it is from 8/22/00. I keep meaning to save it to tape, really I do...

My daughter expects Blue's Clues and Franklin, but being 3, she does understand that one must have "TiVo" to watch them. She even understands that the upstairs TV does not have TiVo! So your daughter will understand before long.

Boy am I glad to hear that I am not the only one with this issue. My almost 2 year old has the same "problem". To add to that she LOVES the Tivo intro that you get with the "Tivo button - 0". She likes to watch it over and over and over......

I was actually wondering about children who are born into the TiVolution. The whole world will be different to them http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

I once had a friend slap the side of my black and white TV while yelling "What the heck did you do to the color?"

Now we will get children saying "Billy is so lame - he watches commercials!"

I've got my first on the way and I've been telling people I'm so excited to one day have to explain to my child how "live" TV works.

My 2 year old son asks for Zoboomafoo all the time, he really doesn't seem to care if it is new or not but I keep a season pass for my own sanity.

I try to keep a little control on how many times per day he watches this program!

Normally in the morning while we get dressed we use it to keep him from getting into everything and again while we are busy preparing dinner.

I suppose without TiVo I would have a Zoboomafoo tape that was continually reused.

Thank you TiVo!

My son just turned five and is just now understanding the frustration of not having TiVo connected to everything in life. So far he's asked me to rewind the following:

1) Other people's TVs
2) Movies at the Theater
3) Something funny we see on the road, i.e. "Did you see that car?"
4) Our kitten

BWHAHAHAHA!!! I do that to my wife all the time! I'll be driving down the road or something and she'll point something out and I'll instinctively go to hit the "jump back" button!

I have 5 eps. of Rolie Polie Olie, 4 Blue's Clue's, 3 Barney and friends and 2 Zoboomofoo's for my 19 month old daughter. The only way I can get any other work to done is to pop her in front of the 60" and turn on one of those. Boy, think of how much work I could get done if TiVo had a batch play feature!!!

Well, my 6-year-old daughter has absolutely no conception of "live" TV, thanks to TiVo.

She knows that every day at 5, TiVo will have today's installments of Zoboomafoo, The Flintstones, and Arthur. Pausing, fast forwarding and rewinding is just part of life.

But apparently this has extended a little bit too far into the real world.

The other day, she was having a snack and also wanted to run around the house and play with a friend who was over. When warned that running around with food was a bad idea, she said, "Oh, that's okay. I'll just put my snack on pause and come back to it later."

With that, she put her plate down and ran off to play.

Though most of you posting here probably already know it, you can use the combination of KeepAtMost=1 (or whatever you choose) and SaveUntil=IDelete. Since our kids don't need to see the most-recently-aired episode of these shows, it allows them to watch one and delete it. The next time an episode comes up after the delete, you'll have another.

This keeps the red light recording shows YOU want.

My 3 1/2 year old is a TiVo jock already. She has full command of the remote (though she uses only single-ff). She also knows not to watch a show that isn't "a kiddo show."

I think TiVo should put these things in the maternity rooms at hospitals with a laminated sheet telling moms that at 3am, they can watch West Wing or General Hospital rather than AbRoller infomercials. When junior is old enough, he won't be subjected to Disney Channel commercials. Everyone wins. Except Mattel maybe.

I wish there was a knob on the TV to turn up the intelligence. There's a knob called 'brightness,' but it doesn't work. - Gallagher

I thought cable TV and a wired remote controlled VCR was great after the birth of my first child. This is just another one of those things that I wish had been around when my kids were babies.

BryanH, you could always request that Tivo include a "limit reply of Tivoman to 5 times a day" feature in the next upgrade. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

sw, limiting the "tivo guy" in any manner would cause serious emotional damage to my granddaughter.http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif She just turned three and she caught on to "tivo, 0" in nothing flat.
