Found anoter computer & blessed my drive. It only blessed at 74 Gig. It's not within 3 gig(like the instructions say), but it's close enough, right? If I put it in will it still add 74 Gigs to my recording space? Or will it cause other problems. I will wait to add it until I have an answer. Thanks for the help with everything else up till now everyone.

74GB is about right - that's 79456894976 bytes - what disk manufacturers call "80GB" (80,000,000,000). I suspect the "within 3GB" comment was made before the advent of 80GB disks.

it's 3gig on smaller drives. the higher you go, the higher the
1024 -vs- 1000 math difference goes.
80,000,000,000 / (1024 * 1024 * 1024 ) = 74ish

100% * 1000^3 / 1024^3 ~= 93%
Thus, if you take the advertised "GB" capacity and subtract 7% the result would be your expected formatted size. 80-(7%*80) = 74.4GB
Perhaps the FAQ should be updated to reflect the 7% rather than a somewhat arbitrary 3MB, which seems to come from ~40GB drives.
