I'm a little uncertain about a few things. I've been reading the FAQ on hacking the tivo. I'm confussed about the bless tivo program. Do u have to have linux installed on your PC to run it? Right now I only have win98 on my system and haven't went to linux because I don't want to try and install it to tell u the truth. While 98 crashes it doesn't bug me.

You do not have to install Linux. Everything can be done via the Linux boot floppy. Follow the guides EXACTLY if you want to try this. I have done it and was successful. The work and thought that the authors put into this process is nothing short of superb.

Remember, the hack voids your warranty, so if you are at all intimidated you might want to solicit help from someone with a higher comfort level.

I suggest this link as reference:

The bless tivo program is on a bootable floppy, so it doesn't matter what operating system is on your hard drive. It's similar to the Win98 startup disk that you probably have, only it boots a miniature version of linux, not windows.
