DirecTV / TiVo interface question
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I've had my DirecTV hooked up and working with my TiVo now for a day. A question though..
Is there a way to get the DirecTV banner that comes up when you change teh channel not to show up? If so - how? In my limited experience with the service so far, it appears that their banner is always a minute behind (and has the wrong title info), and as I have a banner with TiVo, I don't really need the DirecTV one - if I really wanted to see it, I could manually activate it.

Those settings are in the setup for your specific DTV box. You need to look through all the menu options for your reciever and see if you can turn off the banners or shorten their display time.. Alternatively you may be able to put the TiVo banners on long and cover up the DTV banner..

Oh2 speaks the truth. I don't know which brand of receiver you have for DTV, but I think they all have a setting for quick erase of that channel banner. You're right, you don't need it. I'd look at my receiver's menus to help you out, but I haven't seen my DTV remote in about six months (and I'm happy about that). The only reason you'll need it is to order PPV, and I have managed to do that using the buttons on the front of my receiver in the absence of a remote.
BTW, when selecting channels, it may behoove you to choose the Eastern feeds for some of the channels and the Pacific for others. Remember, when you have a conflict on one of the channels that has both an East and West feed, you can schedule your show on the other channel. I hope this makes sense.

I had already looked through my DTV options, and could not find one anywhere.
It's an RCA something or other - I'm at work now, and don't have the model number memorized. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
