I have a enhanced phillips 107 hours at 2.1 software(just upgraded to 2.1 on Sunday stills says when I go to pick programs to record "organizing program guide data pick programs to record will be available in 4 to 8 hours" for 2 days now,I was advised to relax it is indexing,I have forced 2 calls in the last 2 days both successful downloading, loading data, call successful, still no indexing, when I call TIVO they advise me my calls are not successful, how can this be I personally watched the process and they are successful system info shows last successful call as if they are successful, indexing none yet,gc,none yet.I gave Tivo person my serial # and her info shows not successful but they are successful, she asked me a few times to repeat # as if we were talking about different units, sorry for rambling but I figured somebody here could help me better than TIVO rep,is there a way to force indexing is the bottom line? TIA from a newbie

search for this form for enabling backdoor codes on your tivo unit. the backdoor codes will allow you to see system logs.

My main point to the Tivo rep is how was the call not successful if I was able download the program guide, update to 2.1 everything is correct except indexing,so can all this happen without calls going through I don't think so. I did find Otto's backdoor codes I am at work so I can't try much now but it is printed for future use, thanx for the help

Did you unplug for a minute and plug back in ? evidently there is some problem, so if it does not cure the problem and after several tries it still does not finish, I would recommend first checking the drives to make sure the amset and wvset are off. You may have to recopy and rebless etc.

I had to unplug mine today. The power went off, and after it came back, the TIVO was trying to boot, and it displayed the gray screen with " a few more monments " or something like it for about 15 minutes. I unplugged it for a minute or so, plugged it back in, and it booted up fine.

This indexing business can take up several days. After mine upgraded the software from 1.3 to 2.1, it took several daysa until it finished indexing. Also every time you make a change it may restart the indexing. Only after it is fully done the first time, takes shorter or less time the updating. Before you go to bed, check what it is doing, on the sytem status screen, and if you don't see anything going on, and if you listen to the drive and don't hear any activity, unplug and replug. Eventually it will get done.
Good Luck. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Looks like you are now (finally) working normally after your power-reset. Mine took quite a long time to GC/Index following and upgrade to 2.01. I think it's possible too that it will not index during "prime time"--my advice is that you try to wait patiently overnight and I'll bet in the a.m. you are fully indexed and ready-to-go.

FWIW, this message usually indicates the CMOS battery is dead or not charging. I had this problem with a unit I bought. I replaced the battery in mine for around $2.
