Greetings all..

A question that I'd like to ask you upgrade-aholics http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
I've recently backed up my original "virgin" A drive in my 212 and ran Tivomad 3.2 on the new larger drive (30gb jobber). Prior to installing the new larger drive I Tivomad'd it so that the additional space could be realized by the Tivo. It worked like a charm and was reported by the Tivo. It has since been upgraded to 2.0.1 and is running like dream.

Then I got greedy. I'd like to upgrade the A disk again..

I have a question now though that I have been unable to find in the Faqs or this board... Can a drive that has already been Tivomad'd be backed up to a another larger A drive and the new drive be Tivomad'd again (e.g, 20->30->100)? I'm assuming that this is not possible and that I need to start off with my original non-tivomad'd A drive. The documentation in the Tivomad 3.2 Section 5 states that, restoring the original A drive is necessary if have used the Tiger method. Problem is, I'm not sure what the Tiger method is.

Note- the reason for doing this is that I'd like to eventually get to two but only have one right now.

Thanks a bunch to all!

It is all over the FAQ's and the Tivomad discussion threads...but...you have to start over with your original A drive. It should be noted that this information my be obsolete depending on the functionality of the Tiger utility. Hinsdale can probably speak to that with some authority.

As Joseki answered, currently, you will have to start over from backup. Tigers new MFS Tools (coming shortly) will allow you to do what you are requesting, saving all your preferences, guide data, season passes, etc.. but you would lose your recordings.

Hinsdale,

Any word on a release date for the Tiger's MFS Tools? I am about to do my upgrade but I'll hold off if this release is imminent.

He was hoping to get it out sooner but as of now i would rely on his initial estimate:

Depending on how the beta goes, there may be a release soon. However, such a release will not be until at *LEAST* August 14th, as I will be away from computers between the 8th and 13th. Might be a little later even with a good beta, depending on how tired I am from my travels.

mea culpa for the record.... This question has been asked before.
Thanks for responding, anyway http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

Phunc,

I don't believe in the "You idiot! Go read the FAQ!" response. It causes new members to be afraid of posting. I know for a fact that several of my "dumb" questions have prompted meaningful discussions. If we shoo away all such questions, we may miss out on something valuable.
