Tivo went dead

I hacked my drive and everything worked great. Several weeks later I got nothing but snow on my TV. I removed the drive and replaced it with the original. Everything came back fine. I tested the MAXTOR 100GB drive with the MAXTOR long test and everything was ok so I am going to start all over by doing a restore from my original TIVO disk and then expanding it. Does anyone have any idea what and why this happened?

Are you certain it was related to the drive upgrade? For example, while you were getting snow on the TiVo did you check the signal without the TiVo in the loop? If you were using s-video input are you sure your TV was not looking at the antenna?
There are lots of causes for snow on the screen, but I will be surprised if your upgrade caused it, especially because it worked so well for so long.

As far as I know, the TiVo will never output "snow", unless it is off and you are getting your signal through the RF. The TiVo always outputs something while it is on, even if it is just a black screen.
