[Austin] Would like more recording memory. Directions? Local technicians?

I'm not affluent, so I bought the 20-hour Philips about nine months ago. I get approx. 13 hours at the medium quality setting; but I'd like to default to the high setting. So, I need more memory.
1) Is this something I can do myself? I can swap drives and boards out of a PC. Where can I find directions?
2) Is there someone in Austin, Texas, that I could hire to do it? But let me reitterate, I am not affluent.

Yes you can. You'll need a regular hard drive that's as big as you can afford. You'll just connect it alone to a PC and run either TivoMad's disk or BlessTiVo then set the jumper to slave and connect it to the spare connectors in the Tivo. You can make something to hold it out of carboard or non-conductive foam and zip ties. I'm in Corpus but that's still a long way!

Arro, I am living proof that upgrading can be done by nearly anyone with a little computer knowledge. aymanme has offered to help, so it should be easy for you. Just read the FAQs and a good many threads before you start.
