How long have you had your Succesfully Running TiVo?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My TiVo went to the Severe Error loop after only three weeks of use. I'm getting another one delivered tomorrow.

I was wondering, how long have all of you had your TiVo without problems? I'm afraid my new TiVo may do the same thing my first one did, and if it does, I may not come back for a third try.

feb. 14 2000 no problems

Well, I am on my 4th unit--a Philips 14 hour SA. The first one lasted for almost 3 months. The second one lasted a couple of weeks. The third one lasted almost a month. I hope this unit will contiue to do a good job! I don't even want to talk about---I might hex myself, lololol.

The first unit's modem dropped dead. The second unit lost the audio, and the third unit quit responding to the remote. They sent a second remote which of course did not good, so they finally sent me my present unit.

November 2000 - 30 hr SA Philips - Returned due to failure of the tuner to receive some stations. (Remember the auction site Mercata? Excellent return service - they paid both ways. To bad they went belly up)

November 2000 - 30 hr SA Philips Replacement - No problems since then.

Last Night, +15 hours and counting - 14 hr SA Philips - Guided setup OK, system upgrade OK, no problems so far.

I've had a Philips 30 hour since May 2000 with no problems, and another Philips 30 hour since March 2001, with no problems either.

Philips 14 hr since April or May of 2000. It's been thru hell and back too, as I've hacked the heck out of it at many times/places. Currently, it's a 45 hr unit. It has been higher and lower in capacity at various times. Not had any problems with it from a hardware standpoint, nor any from a software standpoint that I didn't cause by accident (or intentionally). http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Why did you decide to downgrade back to 45 hours?

Philips 14hr (now 45hrs) - 19 months
Philips 20hr (now 45hrs) - 12 months

no probs at all with either.

Family reaction after first purchase:
"What's that?"
Family reaction 6 months later:
"Oh, I deleted Farscape to record my stories, OK?"
Bought the 2nd one the next day....
