Tivonet locking tivo up
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My freind and I just built tivonet cards using rev 2.3 of 9thtee's board. Initially my tinvonet worked fine, but both of his would lockup the tivo before it could boot. Either the tivo would display wavy lines and not even spin up the drives, or it would get as far as the tivo picture and freeze.
Then after a day and a half of trouble free use my tivonet started doing the same thing.
I've checked for shorts on all chips, and continuity between the lattice gal, and the board and I've found no problems.
Any ideas? This one has me stumped.

Did you check to see if all the pins on the socket are soldered correctly? There's so many pins there (and the density relatively high) that it's possible a small solder bridge is there.
Or more likely, the TiVoNet board isn't plugged fully into the connector - someone (sjf? I can't recall) discovered that the top of the foot under the board interfered with the TiVoNet connector - a simple filing down should allow the TiVoNet to plug fully into the connector.

I checked for shorts across the connectior... didn't find any.
I actually raised the front of the motherboard so that I had plenty of room to attach the adaptor.
I think it is very odd that one board worked fine for a day and a half before developing problems.

Yes, it was me. The foot is held in the case by a plastic pin (shaped kinda like a short, flat-head nail) pushed up through the foot. Pulling the pin out (from the bottom of the foot) allows you to cut off an eighth of an inch or so, enough to allow the connector to pass over the foot without interferrence.
