Hello,

Does anyone know where I can gat a good, cheap, ~10GB IDE drive, new or used? I just want to back up my desktop machine, and store the drive elsewhere. I'm not really interested in trusting ebay offerings.

You can back up your TiVo about 3 times on a single CDR with TiVoMad.

I'm not looking for a Tivo backup - just my desktop with lots of important data. I want to image the HD so if the current one fails, or is stolen, I have a complete backup and can be up in very little time with OS, installed software, and data.

You might just want to look into getting a slightly larger drive brand new. By the time you try to find a used one, the costs are going to be prohibitive.

Trying to find an exact drive of that size would be difficult, and probably not worth the cost, given today's drive prices. Unless of course, you really are that strapped for cash to the point where dinner is not always served...

Best way - find a 20GB drive (I'm sure they're plenty cheap now) and use it to store *TWO* snapshots at once. One the current week's backup, the toher the previous backup to that.

I have a 10gb drive that will probably become available in less than a month. I'm in the process of getting a new system with new drives. I take my time when swapping/upgrading my hardware......http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I have a few drives that might work if you are interested.

Maxtor Drives
(Use the scroll menu on top right to find specific drive)

Maxtor 90648D5 6.4GB (Under warranty until Mar2002)
Maxtor 87000D8 7.0GB (Under warranty until Jun2002)

I will run Maxtor drive test prior to shipment (Powermax)
Both drives have been wiped using CleanDrive

I can take a money order or paypal.
