PTVupgrade.COM is Awsome!

I first got my TiVo about 3 months ago. Immediately I decided that anything less than "Best Quality" was unacceptable, which meant my TiVo was really only an 8 hour recorder. Bummer.
I went to PTVupgrade.COM and bought a 80GB drive for a second drive. Installing was a snap and I then had 30 hours of Best Quality. MUCH Better! :-)
Then my TiVo drive died. I had become so dependent on TiVo that I was heartbroken. I wrote to PTVupgrade.COM, and have been amazed by their level of service in fixing it.
Response to email requests has been in a couple hours every time. They gave me alternatives, with reasonable prices, and answered all questions instantly (sometimes 10 minutes turnaround on email!).
I shipped my unit to them. Even in the midst of the current turmoil, they diagnosed the problem, fixed it, and shipped it back to me with 48 hour turnaround time.
While I was at it, I upgraded the initial TiVo drive to 80GB too, so I will have a 60 hour (at Best Quality) recorder when FedEx gets it to me.
PTVupgrade.COM has some of the best customer service I have seen in a company -- and their products are cool too! :-)

Before making accusations, you might want to get a little more experience/knowledge in the forums. If you had searched Burts posts you would find that he obviously is not affiliated with PTVupgrade (or spents days replying to posts setting up his cover just for a single ad opportunity)
I am confident that Burt has no relation to PTVupgrade and was simply expressing his experiences with the company. I believe lou, one of this forums frequent contributors of free advice to those in need, is affilliated with PTVupgrade, and is very capable upgrader. For those that have the money I am confident that PTVupgrade does a quality job. And based on Burts glowing recommendation, they apparently have very good service also.

Apparently they are affiliated with 9th Tee so you know they have good stuff... but DAMN are they expensive.

Hmmm ... I didn't know Chicago is in California.

To clarify to the suspicious - Burt is a customer. We like it when our customers post feedback about us on the forum.
As for our prices being 'expensive' - not sure how to respond; that is a subjective observation. We've had sufficient demand with our previous and current pricing, we feel our prices are reasonable relative to our competition, and we feel the level of support we offer is superior to that of any of our competitors.
Cheers,
Lou

I don't know. PTVupgrade offers a nice service to those who really don't want to get their hands dirty, but also offer support for when bad things happen to said machines upgraded by them. Personally, I'd never use the service offered, but for some people who posted here who really shouldn't be doing this, they're great. Most of the cost's in the support anyhow.

Well, we don't like advertising in the forums...

Providing excellent service and support for random non-technical customers on exotic cutting edge technology is insanely time consuming and expensive.
Many good companies with fine service offerings go broke and close down because they underestimated the often crushing cost of offering even limited support.
If you think PTVupgrades charges more than you are interested in paying that's fine... don't buy anything from them, chances are you can do your own upgrades and aren't a potential customer of theirs anyway.
Ragging on them for providing a service you don't want or need at a price you aren't willing to pay is pointless.
Every person's time is worth at least what they can get someone to pay them for it (usually more).
Calling an unbidden testimonial an ad is also sort of pointless, there are lots of folks who may read this forum who are far better off getting their upgrades through PTVupgrades than opening up their tivos and monkeying around with them.
If someone comes along and posts a glowing review of something that does interest you... say for instance an 802.11 interface mod kit at a reasonable cost in a no support do it yourself hacker's version but with a nice quality internal antenna... would you jump on them for posting an ad?

As a low tech person I spent many hours in the TiVo upgrading process, and it definitely would have been to my economic advantage to use PTVupgrade. The only reason I did it myself was to try to learn something new.
In the past I have read numerous posts from regular participants in the forum praising 9thTee and/or PTVupgrade. Also, there have many posts by persons looking for a person or company competent to perform upgrades.
I did not consider this thread to be an ad, but thought it was merely an effort by a forum participant to alert us to a company giving good service.
