Philips HDR 312

I am getting the Philips HDR 312 and I want to know if its ok to mirror the a disk to the b disk for a backup. I heard it comes with 2 disks. I want to replace the b disk with a bigger one. Does the b disk contain anything vital to the Tivo running or is it just storage space?

That won't make a good backup unless you do the MFStools divorce first. It may not have 2 drives in it anyway. Don't mess with making a backup on the other HD. It's just a waste of a good HD. If it's a single drive one you're in good shape. Just Bless and add a new one to it. There are plenty of single cd backups around if you need one later. If it is a 2 drive unit just restore a single drive image to one drive and then add the next.
