e2fsck on Tivo drive booted in PC

Can anyone direct me to instructions on how to mount my Tivo drive (with DBD or otherwise) so that I can run e2fsck on it?
I created an image onto a larger disk (several times using DBD and MFS tools). In all cases, there are some bad spots on my original drive and the image does not work. Get the message on Tivo that there is a "Severe" error and to leave it three hours and "pray". (haven't tried leaving it for three hours but that may be my only hope)
Anyway, I would like to run e2fsck to check the partitions but can't find an already built Linux version that I can run e2fsck from. I am not a Linux/Unix guru and would appreciate any help the pros here can give.
Thanks

You don't say what kind of drive you have, but I would suggest running the manufacturer's diagnostics which will remap the bad sectors, then reimage the drive. I would be leary of running a drive that bad in my TiVo without thorough testing. You may also find that the drive has more severe problems than you think, in which case you can may be able to have it replaced under warranty.

The problem is not in ext2 most likely, so ext2fsck is not what you need. What you need is something like MFS fsfix. Which is conveniently exactly what is being run whem you get a green screen. However verifying drive integrity is not a bad idea.

Sorry, I misunderstood and thought the errors were on the target drive, not the source. The Quantum diags are probably worth trying. They might recover enough data, or beg for a backup.
Does your original drive work in your TiVo? If so, you might try using a different cable or different PC to read it.
