Since there may be other people having trouble getting jack's modified tnlited to work, I thought I'd share what I figured out...

I downloaded the modified tnlited so that I would be able to use RedHat 7.1's telnet (which I've read breaks Tivo's built-in tnlited). I set up my rc.remote-login, but kept getting errors when it ran.

Turns out that when calling the modified tnlited, you need to put in ""s. For example, my rc.remote-login now contains:

/var/hack/tnlited -p 23 "/bin/bash -login" &

All the tutorials out there using the built-in TiVo tnlited don't have the quotation marks.

Anyway, I know it's not rocket science but I hadn't seen any code examples out there with the ""s and I wanted to help out anyone like me (ie, not a linux genius) get started up. Once I changed this, ppp came right up for me and I can run tivoweb-tcl now as well.
