Anyone know of a cheaper place to get a tivonet? 9thtee.com has them for 100 which seems a little pricey. Any help is appreciated
Thanks,
Will

Go with 9th tee
Great product, great service
and i am in no way associated with them !
Others here will agree...

I do agree I have heard nothing bad about them in regards to service. Perhaps I am missing something but the tivonet card seems to look like something very cheap(not in quality in the expense of the parts). I would think someone could sell it for 50 or lower and still make a decent profit
Thanks,
Will

The catch is, the $100 unit they sell is not manufactured in bulk, so you've got guys with soldering irons putting them together. Plus, they're including the $20 network card, and fully testing it to make sure the card is compatible. Compared with the cheaper way, I'd go with the $100.
Being hand made and tested seems to justify the cost, at least in my mind.
Disclaimer: I haven't bought one yet!

Hey - the parts list and mask for the PC board are readily available - if you think you can sell them cheaper (including testing each one with the NIC), then feel free!
I didn't begrudge the $100 at all.

9th Tee used to sell the TiVoNet "kit" (PCB+GAL) for $25 or so - anyone know where it is? I couldn't find it...

We stopped selling the board and GAL over a month ago. I got tired of people, that had never tried SMT soldering, emailing me that they could not get it working and something had to be wrong with the board or GAL. I also had several folks that were very rude about the fact that I did not provide detailed ordering instructions with vendor part numbers, for the other components required on the board. Just too many hassles.
We offer assembled versions with and without the pre-programmed NIC and are completely tested twice before shipping to insure that they will work when properly installed in a TiVo.

Ordered my tivonet from 9thTee on Wednesday, it was delivered on Thursday (I live in Charlotte, NC). Put it in on Saturday, and it came up without any problems. I am a Unix SA, so ymmv. The hardest part was crawling under the house routing the cat5.

Here is Tridge's description of the TiVoNET board , including links to PCB layouts and GAL programming info. I don't know if it's been kept up to date, though. Have fun!

ok that explains the price I incorrectly assumed there was enough demand that these where made in bulk.
Thanks,
