Is DTV Activating My DSR6000 Right?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I purchased (thanks to this forum and the person who tipped us to this deal!) a DSR6000 at CC this past weekend. I hooked it up last night and called DTV for activation.

Let's say I had a less-than-satisfying experience with a phone droid who put me on lengthy hold twice claiming 'computer difficulty.' The DTV part of my D-TiVo was finally activated, and the droid claimed my TiVo was activated. However, I was never asked for my TiVo service number. I offered it, and was told they had what they needed.

As of today, my TiVo still showed service status was unknown. I called DTV back and talked to a different person. My records show that I've been set up with a TiVo subscription at $9.95 a month. However, when asked, the woman didn't seem to know what the TiVo service number was. She also said that it may take several days for TiVo to get my info.

Are they blowing smoke up my skirt, or have they entered my subscription correctly? Anyone else have an experience like this?

no worries, give 'em a day or two.
it took mine a couple of days to show a service state.
they seem to have a database that matches the serial with a service id.

Well, after my first regular daily call (which netted 2.5 for me (!) ), my status now reads "1:New." My standalone is "3:Account in good standing." I guess after the first payment you're in good standing. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif

It often takes 3+ days after DirecTV activation for the correct Tivo status to show up.

I activated 2 DTivos yesterday, one in the afternoon and one mid-to-late evening. The afternoon one went very fast, but the evening activation was very slow. My phone droid said one of their servers was down, and I think it likely.

Do you need a credit card to activate DirecTV or Tivo... thanks

You need a credit card if you would like to pay for the lifetime Tivo fee upfront. Otherwise they will put the Tivo fee on your Directv bill (one $250 payment or $9.95/month).

I know that it does take 3-4 days to activate when you buy a new DSR6000, because i had bought a floor model whose "grace" period had expired, so i basically couldn't use the thing until they activated me which was about in 4 days.
