Since installing TIVO, I have wasted many hard disk sectors due to power drops turning my cable box off. I saw in this forum a recommendation for a cheap UPS for my cable box and TIVO, but could not find it in archives. Any suggestions, please!

Based on recommendations in this forum and elsewhere, I bought the APC Office 350. Have had it a week, and works great -- I just tested last night, and no hiccups when unplugging it from the wall.

You don't need much, since Tivos draw so little. The formfactor of this is nice, like an oversized surge protector, and I wanted to go smaller to reduce any possibility of noise being introduced into the rest of my system -- not sure if that's a real concern, but it seemed prudent. It has three backed up outlets, plus three others that are just surge protected. I have my HDR-612 & DirecTivo plugged into it, as well as my old VCR (so I don't get the flashies on the clock). Egghead.com seemed to have the best price.

I went with two APC Office 500 -- am very happy with both of them.
