Okay, maybe this is really easy, and I am having a brain cramp, but I can't figure it out http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/redface.gif
How do I jump to the begining of the live buffer?

Press Back Back Back and wait 30 seconds.

Nope. Jump to start was never advertised to work in Live TV nor in any recording in progress.
If it's seeing the video as it goes back that's the problem, look away. When the sound comes back it's safe to look at it again.
Remember to hit Pause before going into the menus when you're behind real time in 2.0.1.

Why?

Because if you don't, when you exit the menu, you'll
automatically be caught up to live instead of where
you were in the buffer when you entered the menu.

Good point. If you have a programmable remote that supports this, change TiVo to the macro Pause TiVo so you only have to remember not to pause first.

Not in Live TV, nor I believe in any recording in progress.

I actually had a strange beginning-of-buffer experience. I was watching the NBA playoffs, and when I do, I tend to rewind and watch plays again and again. The only keys I would be hitting during this are back, pause, forward, and play, but somehow I was jettisoned all the way to the beginning of the buffer. I couldn't recreate the key combo that did this, and it felt like a glitch. Any ideas how this happened?

A bug in 1.3.0 relating to being in the middle of the recorded program. Fixed in 2.0.1.

I had the same experience as fismo, where I was watching something and hit the rewind key. My finger slipped and hit something else, and all of a sudden I was at the beginning of the buffer. I'm using 2.0.1, though, so in my case it's not a matter of it being fixed.
Wish I knew the key combination -- that's a very useful feature!

Just happened to me yesterday as well. I was backing up and about 10 min back, it just popped right to the beginning of the live buffer and started to play.
Damned if I could recreate it though......

Well, if it's the same bug, it should only trigger when you're approximately midway through a recording. I first encountered it during a recording of Psi Factor where the second half hour wasn't broadcast and instead was 15 minutes of commercials and half an episode of Gilligan's Island. I think I was midway through and hit play and found myself at the start.
Okay, so press Back Back Back, wait 15 seconds, hit Play may exploit this bug to get to the beginning of the live buffer faster, but I don't know if this bug ever affected the live buffer. AFAIK it was in recordings only.

This happened to me at least twice recently where I would press <<x3 and I'd immediately jump to the beginning of the live buffer. Could not recreate.

Unfortunately this does not work if you are watching Live TV or a programming that is currently being recorded. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/frown.gif

If I want to get to the beginning of a show or movie being recorded and it is pretty far along on the recording, I just pick the program from the Now Showing listing and it immediately starts it at the beginning. It beats the rewind.

but that trick only works once. If you jump forward you cannot restart from the begginning because TiVo remembers where you are at when you leave playback mode...
