Analogue Cable & Terestial Ariel

I'm now on my 2nd Tivo .. 1st one lost all RF output while I was trying to wire it up with all the spaghetti
now I've finally got it up and running fine with my telewest analogue cable box... there does not however appear to be any option for analogue cable + aerial . ?
so I can only let it record what I'm watching - defies the object a bit. I can obviously let it do its own thing when I'm in bed and watch after. but I'd like to allow it to record the 5 terrestrial channels as it wishes .
can this be done or should this be a suggestion ?

You select the extra service you want (ie Telewest cable) - RF appears to be added as the 2nd input whichever option you use.
You can then choose not to select the RF channels if you don't want them.

Hi,
I haven't seen this information anywhere else.
Are you saying that we poor Telewest analogue users can get TiVo to list the bypass RF channels instead of the Cable channels (11,12 etc). Thereby allowing recording of terrestial from the seperate RF channels and allowing us to watch the cable channels?
Do you know which version of software allowed this to happen?
The last posting I can find from TivoTed is that they are aware of the problem and were working on it.
Could you do a mini walkthru of how to do this?

No
Go through the guide setup and once to have entered your post code you should be given an option for Telewest (do not select digital satellite).
This should not only provide you with the list of cable channels through the cable box - but major channel available on RF by-pass (ie: BBC1 / ITV etc)

i setup my tivo as above and i have not seen any options for any RF input channels .
the only channels it presents me anywhere are the ones coming thru the cable ..

But you should get BBC1 etc through the cable anyway
The by-pass channels will be prefixed with a C (ie: C60 - BBC1) - the cable stb channels will just be numbers

i have just checked the setup again. no mention at all of any channels coming thru an aerial.. with a "C" in front. chans bbc1 itv etc are only listed as cable channels..
the chans are getting to the tv and are tuned in and the aerial is going into the tivo on a splitter with the cable output

You'll need to contact TiVo CS then - it is not possible to add channels so that programme details are available.
It would seem that TiVo has assumed that cable provides the main channels through the cable box - which is not always the case.

This is a known problem with analogue cable. See Tivo Ted's reply to my question in this thread.

I am going to attempt the VCR option when I lay my hands on a spare VCR later this week. I will let you know how I get on!

A lot of problems keep re-arising - the number of postings are just too large to check through.
ONdigital viewers do get the RF channels as well as stb - I would not have thought it would be too hard to copy over these RF channels into the cable line-up.
