T3 Gets it Wrong

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

This months T3 has a review of the Nokia Media Terminal (apparently out towards the end of the year) - and the reviewer gets it horribly wrong:

"It only has one tuner, so you won't be able to watch one programme and record another, a restriction which also afflicts the Media Terminal's closest rival, TiVo."

Hmmm, and there's me watching something from the TiVo while I record Eastenders....!

James

As an aside, though, the Nokia does look like a fantastic and very sexy piece of kit - Digital TV receiver, PVR, Internet Terminal, Games Console and MP3 player for £500-£600.... and it looks FAB!

I think if people knew you could easily add an 80GB drive to more than triple capacity a lot more people would buy a TiVo (or choose it over other PVR's).

But many people wouldn't be capable of doing that or are afraild to because of warranty. What we really need is an official high-capacity Tivo or at least an official upgrade.

Please Tivo.....

Nokia teams up with ONdigital
By Hubeena Nadeem, London, Revolution UK Online, May 23, 2001

Nokia Home Communications has partnered with ONdigital to launch its home entertainment device Nokia Media Terminal.

The soon-to-be rebranded ONdigital will work with Nokia to launch the product in the UK later this year.

Nokia’s Media Terminal will combine digital video broadcast service (DVB), internet access, a hard disk for digital recording, an MP3 player and facilities for gaming.

The launch will promote both the Media Terminal and ONdigital's pay TV service, in addition to its internet-through-TV service ONnet portal.

Nokia already supplies set-top boxes for ONdigital's pay TV service.

According to ONdigital's director of interactivity, Matt Seaman, Nokia's expertise in consumer technology products combined with ONdigital's experience in Pay TV, internet on TV and subscriber management makes the alliance stronger

Looks like iTVDigital will beat Sky off the starting blocks!
