Keep Tivo Sugested recordings .....

Something I am finding enjoying at present is that when TiVo is recording Movies from sky the EPG often shows a 2 hour chunk although the film is only 90 mins or so. Here if TiVo has found a gem which I want to watch from the beginning I am stuck on that channel until the scheduled end.
How about an option when changing channels
1. Change Channels delete recording
2. Change Channels Keep recording up to this point
3. Don't change Channels
How about a vote Gary we don't seem to have had one for a while?

Why ! you dont have to wait once the film as finished just stop the recording then change channels yourself.

No Peter Paul IS right. I was thinking of submitting the suggestion this myself.
If the recording is initiated by TiVo as a suggestion then any action to change channels or stop the recording will delete it completely. I've lost several recordings this way (not that I really lost anything as without TiVo I wouldn't have had them)

What you need to do if you want to stop a suggestion recording part way through (and keep it) is to change the "save until". Once you do this it moves up the "now playing" list from the bottom to the top. Now when you stop recording it treats it as a recording you've asked for and doesn't delete it.

oh my apologies then i was thinking if you had started the recording (sorry Paul) you see i have never let TiVo do its own thing. i can always find enough programs to record that i have time to watch if i let TiVo do it i would never have time to watch all it would record.

Very nice! It hadn't occured to me that you could change the "save until" before something had finished recording!

kevin This is a very simple way around it however please try to explain it to my wife. I'm afraid you wouldn't get very far !

I only found it by accident. I haven't seen it documented anywhere.
