Buy a TiVo for £250 (ends DEC)
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

OK, there's a deal on to buy your TiVo direct from TiVo for £250 (£50 cheaper than RRP). The deal ends at the end of December.
To get the discount, you need to be recommended by an existing TiVo customer. That person will get £50 of vouchers in return.
I suggest that any existing TiVo owner who is willing to do this for a new TiVo owner adds their name and email address to this thread. To make it fair (unless there are not many people offering this "service"), maybe we should restrict it to one per person. What do you think?
I'll start the ball rolling. Anyone who wants to can contact me at bob.findlay@bbsrc.ac.uk and we can swap details.
Bob
PS for those who don't know, this is the procedure -
To buy a TiVo, call 08702 41 84 86 and Quote MGMR to take advantage of this special discount (I presume they will ask for details of the person who recommended you). When you subscibe to Tivo you'll get a welcome letter detailing your Tivo customer number.
You contact your sponsor, and then he/she phones 020 7510 0170 and gives their name, your name address and customer number.
Bob

This is likely to lead to a rash of "I'll recommend TiVo to you too" posts from everyone - at which point I will close the thread....

The administrator here doesn't like "me too" type posts in the forums. How about you include brief details in your signature so it appears in posts newbies read. Maybe they'll pick you because you offered some good advice. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

what we really need Gary is some STICKY topics. (no, not chocolate bars left in the sun http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif). Another forum I use has them, and they're a godsend.

The forum software is overdue in its upgrade to a different (but similar) bulletin board system. The main AVS HiFi forums have already been upgraded. I believe this new software includes sticky threads. As ever we are waiting for the software to arrive soon http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

It's weird, as i used to swear by Ubb, and then i moved my board to the "different" software, and it IS a damn site better http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif More feature-rich, and more efficient.
Oh and the search function doesn't kill the server (Normally!!!... I need a new box to cope with the demand, as it's well overloaded at the mo!)

Er, what's a "sticky thread", please?
And, BTW, does anybody know where the TiVo UK FAQ has disappeared to?
Posted by: GarySargent
A "sticky thread" is one which stays at the top of the list on the index page regardless of when it was last posted to.
Getting back on topic - out of interest has anyone yet taken TiVo up on the recommendation offer?
