Sky have now started showing films on 305 in Dolby Digital 5.1 http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

I've now seen and heard the future!

With my poor old ears I can hardly tell stereo from mono so I'll pass on this one.

Is that some new fangled version of the ear trumpet.
Mike.

not a new version as such - just 2 trumpets, 1 for each ear. being half deaf in my left ear i find that a sock stuffed down the trumpet stuck in my good ear helps balance the sound out a bit, sorta brings it from behind my right eye to near the bridge of my nose.

Advance ear horn can be purchased in the UK from http://www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/...-headphone.html or even Alders in Croydon http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Oh Bu**er, Automan has found me another thing I have to get! I have been holding off on any form of Dolby Digital kit until Sky get it sorted. This is going to cost me an arm and a leg as I am also thinking of upgrading my DVD player as well!

Well, being fully deaf in my right ear this sounds like the basis of a deal. How about we split the headphones http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Just checked the price.
I suppose I will have to start looking for a job.
Anyone need someone old, useless and half deaf.
Mike.

ChrisA,
Granted on Sky's first night of Dolby Digital some problems with picture did occur affecting all viewers of chn 305 (mainly after 22:30 last night - white picture with some movement in blue then all white). Sky even stopped the movie to I assume try and fix it which they did.

This morning just before 07:00 chn305 was back to a white screen with just the red interactive button (dolby digtal was however working).

I assume by now Sky's / SES's engineers will have resolved these first day "teething problems".

We shall see/hear tonight!
They may even manage to have audio with the adverts.

Thanks for the info. I feel a SONY coming on! Looks like a visit to the local Sony centre to get all the info on the gear, and then decide from there. Mind you I have a QUAD stereo system with electrostatic loudspeakers so it is going to be a hard pushed to beat that!
