A writer from CNET talked to me today for an article for news.com

He was targeting his article more for the angle that if you build a product with PC parts it will be hacked.

One thing he words a tad incorectly is the bit about people trying to crack the MPEG video format. His sentence makes it seem more negative. I mentioned people are trying to figure out the MPEG file format used on the TiVo proprietary partitions.

All and all it came out pretty good. I was hoping he would mention AVS and the other sites and people involved. (I did give credit to the earlier group for figuring this all out but it didn't make it).

only part i took issue with was the allegation that we're skirting an official paid upgrade when none actually exists...i emailed him of that fact...we're not taking money from anyone, at least not at this time...
