Green Screen of Death

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My Philips Tivo began to display what I call the "Green Screen of Death" or "Severe Error has occurred" message about a week ago. It has progressively become worse to the point that my Tivo no longer will boot-up.

I called Tivo and since it has been more than 24hrs they say it is a hardware failure. They did not mention what part of the hardware had failed exactly. They said to call back when their computers were working to see about an exchange.

Does anyone know what hardware has failed? Is it motherboard, HD or something else?

Does a user who has voided the Tivo warranty have the ability to get an exchange? Or does this user need to repair the problem himself? Is it possible to repair this problem?

JedWare-

Is your box under warrenty? If so, let TiVo deal with it, that is unless you have an extended warrenty with CC or BB in which case, take it back for an exchange. All this is assuming you have NOT cracked the case. If you have, go to the Underground forum and get their take on this.

ps-You might try posting first in the Help Center http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif
