Where to find maxdiag.exe?

Does anyone have a working link for maxdiag.exe? I did a search on this forum, and the links in the old threads no longer work.

since maxtors web site has been hinky lately, do this
www.maxtor.com

click 'software download' in the left margin, halfway down

you'll see direct links for udma update (it says 66 to 100 but this util does all dma changes including the lock at 33), the write verify tool and acoustic management tool

to get maxdiag click on 'utility library' and they now call it 'pwrdiag'.

i've gotten lots of sporadic 404's on maxtors site the last few weeks, stick with it. if you cant get to it using the links use your favorite search engine with 'pwrdiag.exe' 'amset.exe' 'wvset.exe' and '66to100.exe' as search items, you'll get a couple of direct links to them that work even if the web site is mucked up.

Thanks. I saw powerdiag, but wasn't sure that was the right tool since there hadn't been any mention of it on this board.

Crap.

I used pwrdiag on the assumption that it was an updated version of MaxDiag. But I've just had a look at the readme for MaxDiag, and it appears that they are completely unrelated programs. There were about 4 different options in pwrdiag, and I ran them all just to be safe. But none of them was called "Write Scan," which is apparently what I needed. The only data-destructive option in powerdiag was "Low Level Format," which doesn't like it's what I needed.

Has anyone else used (or even looked at) powerdiag? Do you think that any of its tests is equivalent to the MaxDiag "Write Scan" test? Or do I need to worry about bad blocks/stuttering?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

From the Software Download page, there are links to wvset and amset pages, but if you look carefully there are also direct links to the software itself from that general software page.

The direct links work, but the links from the utility-specific pages don't.

oh crap part deux. i didnt try powerdiag, i just noticed that maxdiag went away and powerdiag showed up, so presumed it was a newer version of the same thing.

On looking around, all the links to maxdiag are 404'd, but i found a link that said it was now included in the maxblast package. i'll look at that and see...

It is PWRDIAG, also interchangeably called Powemax on the maxtor web site.

the low level format option is the equivalent of the old write test. run each test from the basic down to the write test, that should give it a good work out.

Looks like they fixed some bugs and changed the UI a little.
