Thank you all for all your help. I did my upgrade last night and I now have 52 hours. Yes, just 52 hours. Financial restraints have limitted me to just this. But I am still thrilled. Thanks to all who have put hard work into this to make it simple for some one like me.

Thanks!

My Tivo (the main one I use at my apartment) is still just 52 hours too, unchanged since the initial hack. I bought a 60 gig Maxtor with the intent of building a 91 or 108 hour Tivo, but I found I wasn't filling up the 52 too often, even though my todo list is a mile long. So I'm using the 60 gig to build a new file server.

52's pretty nice if you record in medium (which I do and always have)..

52 is nicer if you record in Basic. http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/smile.gif

Personally, I can't see the difference except on some action movies where it gets all blocky. The key is not to sit so close to the screen, people. http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/biggrin.gif

I really don't get the blocky unless it's a rippling/shimmering water scene or the like. I have directv now, so the picture quality is excellent to start with. But even when I was recording OTA with not so good a signal it was just fine. That's on a non high end 31" TV.. I'm happy.

You can't see the difference between basic and medium? Wow. Are you still using that 3" LCD B&W set ? http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/biggrin.gif

I used medium before the upgrade and thought it was "livable". After the upgrade, everything is on high. I rarely use best.

The difference between medium and high was drastic for me, but then again, that's on a 60" Phillips too........

I have to agree with dd9, I have a Sony front projector with 100" screen.

There is a very noticeable difference between medium and high.

And Basic is worse than VHS.
