Fossil performs upgrade

Being 54 years old, I am of another generation. To me, a shell is what you find on the beach and a boot something to put on your feet. Linux is a character in Peanuts. Unix are what the king uses to guard his harem. BASH is either a really big party or something that can happen to your face if you meet the wrong party. AMSET and WVSET are United Nations organizations. A hack is either an old taxicab or a really bad politician and blessings are something you get in a house of worship.
Thus it was with considerable trepidation that I decided to upgrade my essentially free TIVO (from Circuit City) to a 91-hour unit.
Reading as many of the threads as appeared relevant on the underground and other places, some of the gobbledygook actually started to make sense to me. The downloadable boot disks, drive diagnostics etc. made the job virtually idiot proof. The only problem I had was getting my BIOS to recognize the Maxtor when all of the other drives were disconnected, but I even found a thread that dealt with that.
I now have a 91-hour that works perfectly. OK, I’ve had two crashes of the frozen still picture variety, but I’ve just unplugged and replugged and that’s taken care of it so far. I’ve read the threads about that issue and what makes sense to me the most is waiting to see what happens over time. My internal temperature is a livable 39 degrees C. I love my high quality choices that are in my Now Showing that I can jump from one to another in the twinkle of an eye. Television the way it should be.
Many, many thanks to Tom “there is no spoon” and “wife acceptance factor” Spaulding, to Mark at the 9th Tee, to Dylan for his boot and Mike for his blessings and to all the others who contributed to the hack FAQ and all the other threads. What a community!

I'll second that!
