Quantum lct20's

Anyone used the lct20's yet? I have a 30 hour TiVo that I want to upgrade. I'm leaning towards the lct20 30 and 40 gig drive. I'll copy my 30 to the new 30 and use the new 30 and 40 in the TiVo. I'm assuming that it would be about 94 hours (30 + 80 has given 134) is that about right?
Buy.com has a $30 off a $150 purchase and free shipping right now so I can get both drives for $232.90.

Plus, Quantum has extended the rebate on it's LCT drives, so you could get a little back from them as well, if purchased by 12/31/00. http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/smile.gif

That's just on the lct15's. I was looking at the lct20's cuz they make a 40 gig in the lct20. I suppose I could get a 30 gig lct15 and the 40 gig lct20.

I'm also thinking about ordering an LCT20 30 and 40 Gig. All of these stuttering threads have scared me away from using a Maxtor. Incidentally, what would the total storage be with these 2 Quantums? I'd really like to be able to record everything at Best quality if possible.
Thanks,
Mike

On I'm guessing about 82 hours in Basic. Dunno what that would be in Best for sure. I had the same problem. I didn't want to have to change any settings that might get stepped on during an upgrade. Where my TiVo is in my entertainment system it is a royal pain to get it out so I want to set it and forget it. With the deal I got from buy.com I figured what the heck.

Just to warn you the quantum rebate is really behind. I still haven't gotten mine and I sent it off in september. Then a week ago I get a post card saying it would be another 8 weeks until I receive my check.. thats over 5 months.. I called quantum and complained but they said there was nothing they could do.
I figure I would warn you. Hell they are worse the Iomega and their little rebate scheme.

Just a word to the wise. Quantum has a habit of announcing a rebate after it has already commenced. It may be that LCT20 drives are currently under rebate. Keep your eyes peeled and save those receipts. It also should be noted that the LCT20 is rated as slightly quieter (1-2dB).

I just compared the specs for lct15 and lct20 drives. lct20 is only 0.1dB quieter and has only 128KB buffer versus lct10/lct15's 512KB. Don't know if the buffer size would make any difference for TiVo.

Saw someone list a 40 Gig drive as being in their T60 so I'd guess that would be the lct20 since TiVo is using Quantum drives and the lct15 doesn't go that large. That being the case I would assume that the buffer is enough.

Don't want to scare U guys away from a quantum but I just tried one and it didn't work...
It was blessed and everything but my TIVO wouldn't recognize it... I thought I did something wrong... this being my second upgrade but I found a thread here with people having the same problem, the solution being to use another brand of drive as a B drive...
Just thought I'd let Uknow..

I'll find out soon.... others have used them and had luck so I dunno....
