TiVo Hack File Archive

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

In an attempt to try and centralize some of the fantastic hack work that has been done by the hacking community, I've started an FTP file archive. It should be considered the "central" file archive for TiVo-related hacks, at least for now http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/smile.gif

ftp://tivohack.turbolink.net

If you have something to add to the archive, upload it to /incoming

Thanks Turbo!

In case other haven't checked this out.

The site has some nice things on it.

It has a BINARY version of the TiVo cross compiler for Linux. You can download that and undo it into /usr/local/tivo on your Linux box and you will have a working cross compiler! Thanks go out to MbM for furnishing this binary compiled version of the compiler.

You can compile a program by calling /usr/local/tivo/bin/gcc instead of the normal gcc.

Its a big file though.

I really appreciate Turbo keeping a central repository of files like this (especially the big ones).

Hopefully everyone can send anything they create or port to the Tivo to this site.

So let me get this straight - that isn't a cross-compiler, it's actually a GCC environment that runs *on* the Tivo?

Sweet! I've been setting up a linux environment on my mac for the purpose of compiling some gnu tools. This is way cooler. PV

No it is a cross compiler. It is for running on your Favorite Linux distribution. Red Hat, Mandrake, Debian, etc.

Sorry if I wasn't clear enough

Is this site still up?

ftp://tivohack.turbolink.net

I could get to the main page, but not the binaries directory below it.

Thanks
Scott

Isn't that what Sonnik's site does? Or am I misunderstanding what you're trying to accomplish?

Scutter:
This is a pretty old thread that was resurrected - this predates sonnik's site by several months.

scottearley:
I think what you are looking for can be found here

Tron is exactly right.... and thanks for pointing me in the correct direction.

Actually, it does still exist (still gets >100 downloads a day), but there was a hard drive failure over the weekend on that machine and I haven't fully restored everything.

I'd be happy to push the traffic to somebody elses site, though, so go to the new site instead http://www.avsforum.com/ubbtivo/smile.gif
