Any one know if the following drive can be used to upgrade a 30 hour Sony Tivo? Do you think this is a good price?

Yes, that drive will work. Several people here have used a Maxtor 80 GB drive in their upgrades. While you're here, read all the hints/tips on upgrading that isn't in the FAQ (also here).

Anyone know if this drive makes a lot of noise? I am not familiar with these large drives and was wondering if they are noisy and will interfere with my enjoyment of watching TV.

I have the drive in question in my Sony... A little bit noisier but not really noticeably more than the original drive.

Same here. I got the drive, I hear it chatter once in a while, but no biggie. The original drive is quieter. But it is far from annoying ...
