? about upgrading a 14hr Tivo

I might be stupid or something, but I just want to be sure about this. When you do the upgrade do I remove the drive in the tivo and bless an 80hr with it and then install the 80hr, Or do bless it and then install the 80hr as the second drive. Please can someone clear this up. I read the procedures on this and I just want to be sure.

Blessing has nothing to do with your original drive - that is done with Dylan's boot disk and BlessTiVo and your new second drive.

The only thing you do with the original drive is make a backup - I suggest then running with the backup installed to make sure it works. You may want to, as I do, keep the original A disk aside and run normally with the "backup".

Then you just hook up the second drive and that's it.

Thank you for replying. Let me get his straight. I make a backup? How can I do that? After the backup I install the backup to make sure it runs. then I bless the second drive and install it. Is this right.

Thanks

So does anyone know how to backup my original drive in my 14 hour with a Mac? I want to install a 40 gig but before I do, I'd like to make a backup.

Thanks!

There are a couple of threads here. I think HDT 4.x has the capabilites as would MacOS X.

I just found a PC at work and did the back up and blessing there.
